Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea Receives Scholarship Students for Study in Japan

Phnom Penh, July 11, 2024 – On July 10, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sok Chenda Sophea, met with 25 scholarship recipients from 14 ministries and institutions who passed the Japanese Government Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) Examination for doctoral and master's degrees.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea congratulated the scholarship winners and encouraged them to study diligently, acquire knowledge, and bring back skills to contribute to Cambodia's development. He advised the students to familiarize themselves with Cambodia's identity, history, culture, and civilization to promote the country's image abroad. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of promoting Cambodian culture and civilization to their peers and others in Japan.

The Deputy Prime Minister also urged the students to learn about Japanese history and culture to foster friendship and good relations between Cambodia and Japan. He highlighted the importance of mutual support among the students, referring to the saying, "At the other mother's house, in the same mother's forest."

The scholarship recipients expressed their gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea for his valuable advice and pledged to study diligently to gain comprehensive knowledge in their fields, aiming to contribute to Cambodia's socio-economic development.
